eMATES
Empowering marginalized adults with a migrant background to access e-government through language learning and teacher training
The project
The eMATES project Empowering Migrant-Backgrounded Marginalized Adults in E-Government Access Through Foreign Language Education by Language Educators Training is an Erasmus+ initiative designed to bridge the digital divide for adult migrants.

Aim
By integrating language education with digital literacy, we aim to empower migrants to navigate e-government services confidently and independently. In today’s digital world, access to online public services—such as healthcare, job applications, and administrative procedures—is essential. However, many migrants face language barriers and limited digital skills, making it difficult for them to engage fully in their host countries.
Mission
The project addresses this challenge by equipping language educators (L2 teachers) with the tools to teach not just language but also digital autonomy. eMATES brings together a strong international partnership from Spain, Italy, Germany, Greece, and Poland. Through a combination of research, curriculum development, training materials, and digital learning tools, we provide L2 educators with the knowledge and resources to make a real impact on their students’ lives.
